HR Documents Management Storage

Intro

This is a project I worked along with other UX designers, the aim was to come up with a few ideas based on the needs expressed by a customer interview regarding a new feature for the BrightHR cloud software

We interviewed some customers and collated our insights:

  • Need to have everything in one place
  • Need to collaborate and own certain documents (folders structure)
  • Need to share and move files within a personal drive.

The solution

A proof of concept to give an idea of a possible solution to the problems described

The customers at BrightHR, mostly SME business owners need a central place to manager the paperwork for their employees, but also to transfer and restrict access to certain sensitive content.

Some research:

On this instance, we had the chance to bring a few customers to the office and ask them key questions to understand their needs and expectations for our products , so that we understand their challenges on a daily basis:

Some of the questions were:

What are the mains tasks you need to do in order to complete your work?

How many users would be using this software?

What are the problems you face when doing paperwork?

And a full list trying to understand their needs and context.

Some mockups

Based on the feedback given by some customers created some initial mockups to understand the flows, and what a user would be doing with this feature, tasks, position of most important elements, also trying to emulate well-know cloud software solutions, to minimise the user’s learning curve

Next steps

I shared these designs with the team and the customers , we got some feedback regarding first impressions, needs and expectations , I then discussed with the product owner a first set of features that could be shipped for a first release as first iteration.

The team and I continued to working on this feature as part of the BrightHR main offering
